|
|
By a show of hands how many people here have had to break into their own house? And no having a locksmith do it doesn't count. Today I had to break into my own house. I forgot my keys this morning so after work I started to walk home, when I got a block away from my house I realized that I didn't have my keys on me. To get in I had to bust the air conditioner in and climb through a window. This is the fourth or fifth time in the past three years.
I hope I'm not the only one here who knows how annoying it is. |

| I remember doing it a couple of times as a kid. I forgot my keys, so I would use a stick to lift the hasp of a window before crawling through. I bet it looked really weird. :P |

| Thankfully I've never had to do this, but then again I've got some obsessive-compulsive tendencies... I can't leave the house without making sure that my wallet, cellphone, and keys are all in their designated pockets (and yes, they always go in the same pockets every time). Sometimes I've even done this when I'm leaving for only a short time, like taking the garbage outside or something. |

| I had to take a ladder and climb into my brothers bedroom window on the 2nd floor. I thought it was pretty funny. My nextdoor neighbor (State trooper) did not. |

| This happened to me only once, when I was somewhere around 10 years old. We, my mother and I, walked out to get the mail and we only realized we did'nt have keys when we got there. (we lived in an appartment complex so our mailbox was locked) My mother ended up going over our fence into our little yard, through the sliding glass door, got the keys and came back out to me. Thank God we lived on the first floor. |

| i remember a time when i was about 13 when i had to break into my own house... i always left my room window open (dumb idea to do) so i got a pen and started to tear a hole thru the screen... it was probally a better idea to get a locksmith to help but we were l8 for something important... anyway when i was breaking thru my own window (2nd story) i had to climb over a damn toy box full of old crap but this toy box was huge so i had to do a really big split (worst thing to do is do the splits over a toy box full of crap) i fell while trying to do the splits over the box and fell crotch first on some random crap... lets just say my voice was higher that day and i was red in the face for over 2 hours. (i fell onto something hard that didnt move... and appearantally it fitted where i was doing the splits... use your imagination.) hated to do that... then it happened another time but i had an extra key just in case if that happened... ( in the garage) |

| When I was in High School, I was in the ROTC program there and we had to wear full military uniforms once a week. Three times my senior year, I forgot my keys in the morning of these days when I went to catch my carpool, and wouldn't realize it until I got home that afternoon. Picture this if you will; someone in full dress uniform having to rip the screen off the outside of the window, force the window up, (we had those screw on window stoppers, so I would have to keep slamming the window up until they gave way enough to make a big enough gap), then pul himself up six feet in a dress jacket and squeeze through a window. |

| I can only remember one time that I forgot my keys, when I was quite young. I didn't try to break in, though. I just waited for my parents to come home (thankfully not too long!) |

| Well it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has had to do it, but it makes me feel kind of dumb that everyone else where adolescent teens or younger when they had to get in their house. |

| Well, if you really feel that way, I suppose I could 'fess up to the more recent happening of my leaving my keys at my apartment and when my roommates were gone. I had to literally break my window to get in, and needless to say, CC wasn't too happy when they found out. |
