Hello. To anyone taking the time to read this, I'm known as Feingo, and as you may have caught on, I'm new to this site, but have very quickly grown an attraction to it. I've been RPing for a long time now, and I usually use my main character from my books, Feingo Ferrinton, a young, retired military commander who suffers from post dramatic stress disorder as a result of his work. But I'm sure nobody is interested in that just yet. Being the new guy, I have a few questions for getting started. First of all, I have looked through the avatars provided by the site for this message board, but I'm not really likeing any of them too much. I have an avatar pic I use in other forums, and was wondering; is there anyway that I could upload that image for myself on this board? Open to anyone, and I appreciate your comments.

I'll start by saying welcome to Pleasure BonBon, pleasure to meet you.

I'm afraid I'm not sure whether we can provide our own avatars or not. I wanted to do that as well, but couldn't find a way of doing so, so I've settled for this one.

By the way, that seems like an interesting character to use here. What species is he, or if he's usually human (I couldn't tell from what you said, but assumed he usually is), what species is he going to be for here?

Oh, I almost forgot, my name is Tadelesh. Pleasure to meet you, Feingo. Wait, I did say that bit before.. Never mind.

Well, we certainly are getting a lot of new faces (so to speak) in this place, I'm glad the site is attracting so many new fans.

I also found your character description very interesting, and hope to hear more. There's a couple other military men among the Royal Members here (both real-life and in avatar form), and I especially like the idea of PTSD in a Victorian setting... though, of course, I'm sure a place like BonBon can quickly make most men forget their troubles.

As for having your own avatar, that's something only Ronald, the site admin, can answer. I think I've seen him do that for one or two folks in the past, but I think they were special exceptions (been here a long time and/or contributed to the site in some way). Without his word on the matter, though, I think you're stuck with the avatars available on the board.

Still, if you don't mind waiting, there's always the chance Vanessa will make you a special avatar of your own, which is one of the perks of being a long-time member of the site (more info on that is available in some of the stickied threads at the top of the PBB General Message Board).

Well, I must say, I was glad to get these responses as quickly as I did. (I'm so used to waiting for days on other smaller RP sites, lol) To answer your questions in return for your input, Feingo is a pure white wolf, tall and muscular in build. He's been a character I've developed for years now, always adding something new to fit him into the situations necessary, if you catch my drift. My books, however, have slowed dramatically due to the lack of new ideas, but I'm hoping to change that here. I am, as was noted before, military in real life, so it helps with the character developement. As for the avatar, well, I suppose I'll just have to suck it up and settle! :) I do plan on staying around for some time to come, It helps to have an offer when you can't draw worth a crap.

My second question was, what kind of message bording is done here? Is it mostly question and answer and chit-chat, or is there some RP as well.

I also welcome any questions or comments on Cm. Ferinton that anyone may have. It helps to develope his character better.

Until recently it was, at least in my opinion, just a question and answer and chit-chat board but roleplaying seems to have gained some popularity here lately, as evidenced by the couple of new roleplaying threads.

Well, this board started out as mostly chit-chat and Q&A about the comic and main site, but as more and more folks come in eager to share their ideas and characters, there's been a growing number of role-playing threads popping up. I would say that RPing is largely gaining popularity in here, but it's still mainly a place to share our love of Pleasure Bon Bon and get to interact with other fans, the site staff, and the artist herself.

Also, just to pry a little bit more into Commander Ferinton's background (if you don't mind), where is he from? Which war or conflict would you say Commander Ferinton served in? The story of the comic is set in the Victorian era (1895 to be exact), and all of the folks who bring in their own characters tend to transfer them into that time-period as well.

(In case you're not an amateur historian like I am, here's a list of wars from the 1800's to help you out.)

Heh, sorry, don't want to force you into anything if you haven't figured that part out yet. I'll just shut up and go sit in a corner...

Well greetings new comer.

Yes, the majority of this message board was chit chat and discussions on Pleasure Bon Bon and the furry world in which its a part of.

Some of the members have put more effort into a select few RP threads. I recall that Ronald didn't mind that, but I think there was some worry/controversy over the safety and security of the members here why he tries to discourage the exchange of personal information and such.

Otherwise, pull up a bar stool, share your story and dive into another one. Thats how it goes around here.

Welcome.

It is posssible to provide your own avatars. If you're a member of BonBon, or a member of any of the websites that share the same forum interface, you can drop me an email, or request for me to send you an email. From there you can send an email attachment with your avatar icon. (non animated, and can't be bigger then 80x80).

I've decided this one is quite adequate though, and the one I wanted to use isn't actually as good as I thought. If I find a better one, however, I will do as you suggested.

Well, as I have stated before, Feingo's character (mostly the perspectives of his history) is always changing depending on the situation, or in this case era, that he is placed in. Since I am so rusty on my history, I found the link you directed me to very helpful. (And you needn’t be so worried about prying. Like I said, everything helps). All that being said, I present to you a basic write up of Cm. Ferinton’s history as I see him fitting into this set era.

“Commander Feingo Ferinton, who often thought himself too young to be placed with such a title, joined the U.S Army in 1882 at age 18. He received training as an officer and quickly moved his way up the ranks. In 1890, He and a company of 50 of his men, were sent over seas on assignment as sort of ‘soldiers on loan’ to the French Foreign Legion. The first battles came quickly with the arrival of the First Franco- Dahomean war. Feingo’s men, however, took quickly to war, and they managed to make through the year long war without a single casualty. Naturally, they all looked upon this feat as a major victory on their part. In 1892, Cm. Ferinton and his men were scheduled to be sent home and replaced by another company of men. This same time, however, also marked the beginning of the Second Franco-Dahomean war. The FFL was in need of men to serve in the French Third Republic on the front lines. Feingo knew that a transition of troops would take weeks, time that they didn’t have. He therefore made a proposition to his men. “I propose to you that instead of leaving these boys high and dry just yet, that we stay and fight here for one more year, or until this new war is over. I promise you all that you will be paid extra for your time, and at the end of the war, you will all be released from duty and sent home to your families. We’ve faced these men before, and I am a firm believer that we can do it again and end it quickly!” The men took well to his words, and they were all soon sent to join the FTR under the command of French General Dodds. Cm. Ferinton became Dodds second hand man, with the order that he only use his power of command over his own men, and leave Dodds’ men to him. Feingo and his men had no idea of what was to happen next. On the eve of September 2nd, 1892, The two forces were resting from a long day of convoying deep into Dahomey lands, when they were attacked by Dahomey troops, taking them completely by surprise. The battle that ensued, known as the Battle of Dogba, was a bloody battle indeed, and when it was over, Feingo had lost 30 of his 50 men, many of which, he knew personally. Dodds, however, wasn’t about to let Ferintons loss stop his progression, and he ordered that Ferinton take what remained of his men and follow the retreating Dahomey forces and find out where they were going. Feingo had his own mindset about Dodds’ orders, but was quickly reminded of who’s command he was under, and he had no choice but to do as he was ordered. But the hardships were far from over, as they soon discovered that the Dahomey men were all but waiting for them, and Feingo and his men were all taken as war prisoners. By the time Dodds figured out the situation and sent his men on a rescue mission, Feingo and all of his men had been brutally tortured, and all but He and two other men, killed. The three of them were recovered, treated, then sent back home, where Cm. Ferinton put in for an early retirement. Three years have passed since then. The two other survivors both committed suicide, and Feingo, before coming to Bon Bon, was seriously considering it, feeling responsible for convincing those boys to sign on to the mission that would cause them all to die.”

It’s a rough sketch, but you get the idea.

If I may, Feingo, a question about your current avatar picture. Moro or one of her cubs?

I'm afraid I haven't the slightest idea of what you're reffering to. I simply chose an avatar pic from the provided selection with no intended reason why. Sorry if I've dissapointed you. :(

I'm not certain, but it looks like Moro to me. Feingo, he's referring to the wolf-god in Princess Mononoke (AKA Mononoke-hime), an amazingly animated Japanese anime movie.

Correct, and one of my all time favorite movies as well. I can't help but think it's one of the cubs, though, since Moro's fur has a more blue tint to it, while her cubs' are snow white. And I apologize for confusing you, Feingo, I was'nt aware it was one of the provided pictures here. I assumed you had brought it in yourself.

OHH! (*smacks forhead) Duh, now I know what you're talking about. I can't be sure, but I'd say it was one of her cubs because, like you said, the fur doesn't seem right.
