It may not mean as much coming from someone who never has and never will serve in the military but, as someone who knows what it is and what it's like to lose a friend, you have my sympathies as well.

Yeah. Those are two different realms and should never be compared with one another.

Hence why I made mention of the "It may not mean as much..." part.

well that is kinda ironic becose here soon i am going to enlist i know the feald demolitions but not the branch... my dad wants me to serve in the reserves for the coast guard. he was a asult sniper for the army and my grampa was a naval sea man. i also had a great uncle who was in the merines. i also had a relitive in the air force but i cant remeber anny thing else about him. |

Well, I suppose my time in service means almost as much as being a civilian for all I got to do. Was in the U.S. Navy for about a year and a half before being discharged for chronic depression, I had a medical officer pretty much spell out that I was going to put a 9mm in my mouth and pull the trigger if I ever went to sea. At the time, I thought he was being a dick, but after hearing some tales from a friend who is still deployed, I have my reasons to suspect he was right. But all that was for my time training for submarine duty. During which time I ended up meeting someone online who has now come to be my wife. This was all rather recent, too. Got discharged in late July after spending about a month and a half over at Great Mistakes (nickname for a training command)
