Hello,

I just joined Justice Babes this afternoon (upon good words from a friend and current member) and have just done a quick browse through the website. All I have to say is: wow! This is how fansites *should* be made! I love all the extra things there are to do in addition to reading the comics and such. Is that Poser you're using to create at least the figures of the characters? Because if it is, they are hands-down the BEST Poser figures I've ever seen, bar none. I haven't read any of the comics yet, but I loved the character bio page - more than just excuse to see more images of them. To be quite honest, I joined up after my friend told me that a She-Hulk type character had been added to the roster. She's my absolute favorite Marvel character, and the bio you have of her sounds terrific - what her original series should have been like! LOL But after reading through the other ladies' bios, they all sound quite interesting - I can't wait to dive into the stories.

A quick technical question: what program do you use for the background images? Alais? Miya? They look incredible! And Jeff is a terrific penciler/inker, as well! Does he ever accept commission work anywhere? Thanks so much for putting together this incredible website; I very much look forward to going through it in detail and see what else you guys have up your sleeves.

Hi Terry,

Welcome to the JB world! Hope you enjoy it! The digital artwork is a mixture of a lot of different software packages, centered around Poser. A lot of the backgrounds come from Bryce, and there is a ton of post-render work done in Photoshop and Painter - the hair, a lot of the clothing and effects, etc. It's all composited together with the lettering to make the comic pages.

Glad you like She-Bulk. We always like to hear which characters you like from the mainstream companies that you've always wanted to see more of. We have a bunch of parody characters and some original ones as well. Tons of avenues to explore within this universe, so by all means, tell us what you'd like to see more of!

Let me add my two cents that I also am a She Hulk/She Bulk fan, so the last three pages of "Trophy Hunt" have been greatly appreciated, Jeff. Two cents: I'm impressed with how you've been able to create unique faces, considering what I'm told Poser offers in that regard. These certainly don't look like the same woman with different hair and clothes. As far as body types go, though, what's your take on giving certain characters -- and She Bulk certainly comes to mind her -- more feminine muscle. I' ve seen on Renderosity what some artists have done with the Stephanie figure. I'm not suggesting anything over the top, just something that helps set that character apart and (ahem, like in SB's case) fits the character.

Let me add that I first discovered Jeff's work at his Brickhouse site more than a year ago. I was so impressed with your traditional drawing style, and used your coloring tutorial to improve my own amateur stuff. As much as I would love to see more paper-and-ink stuff from Jeff, I'm damn impressed with his Poser work. He creates some of the most dynamic comic pages I'm seen in this medium.

So now we have Terry, me, Eegore, Undine, Phaderus, scud, Rangler, reman84, and possibly Shango if he ever managed to join. Quite a crowd. So you're making at least $135 a month.

BHD kinda brought me here, too. Very clean work, and more detailed than that on a few other sites I've seen. And the lettering is wonderful, too.

I remember Jeff saying that some of the costumes had been painted on at one time, rather than being 3D models. I was curious: are cloth rips modelled or painted?

The ripped clothing is always painted. Most of the longer hair is also. A lot of the original prototype Babes along the top header of the site have painted costumes as well. Most of the girls now have 3D modeled outfits (when they're wearing anything at all), which make things go a lot faster. With models, I can also set things into motion - one of the things I'd like to do on Justice Babes is create an animated clip and bring some life to the girls. Very possible in the coming months!

I try to work in some personal touches as well, like the auto that Superior Girl gets blasted into on page 17 - that's a 3D model of my car.

Ahh, I thought you might have been using Bryce for the backgrounds, but I wasn't sure as some designers use it, while others prefer various other programs for one reason or another. It could be your use of Photoshop to touch up, add other effects, etc. that really makes your Poser work stand out from others I've seen around the 'Net. I myself have tried to create in Poser, and it is *not* the easiest program to get used to. I think I'll leave it up to the "professionals" such as yourself.

I had a couple of possible future character ideas to throw at you, as well. Since most all of the Justice Babes currently existing are parodies, how about a parody of Marvel's Tigra? Her original attitude and disposition in the comics would lend themselves quite well to this universe, as she always seemed to be in heat! The other idea would be a giantess style character, ala Garganta from AC Comics. She could be perpetually sexually frustrated, seeing that there is *no one* who could possibly satisfy her rather large libido. I don't know how well either of these would be to integrate, however, especially the Garganta-style woman (given her large size, it may be difficult to fit her into the scenes with other charactes regularly). Just some ideas I wanted to throw out at you and see what you thought. You already have quite a few characters, many of whom we've not seen or heard much about, and I can't wait to see how they make their appearances.

Funny you should mention AC Comics. The very first piece of published art I did was for Bill Black and AC - Tara the Jungle Girl (I wrote and drew an 8 page story) and some Ms Victory pinups. They have long been a great source of good girl art, and I'd love to do something for them again someday. They're only about an hour's drive from where I live. Hopefully, my traditional comic art background shows through in the 3D stuff.

A Tigra-type and a Giant girl would be great ideas. As artist, my all time favorite character is Rogue - I love how she took on the physical aspects of other characters she touched. The southern accent was a nice touch also. The creator who stands out most for me is Joe Linsner. Dawn is probably the ultimate Babe in the cosmos. The Lucifer's Halo story is about my favorite piece of work, ever.

There are tons of potential female heroines to be showcased as Justice Babes, so stay tuned!

On Terry's recommendation *I* joined the site - also mainly because of the Sexy She Bulk. Definitely one of the best Marvel heroines, who was somewhat badly handled - well not enough gratuitious tfs...

Anyway, things here are definitely looking exceptionally good - Terry is definitely right, this is the best Poser work that I have ever seen - and it will certainly be interesting to see just how things develop.

And catgirls like Tigra would be good to see too

Glad you guys like She-Bulk. The aim of the site is to show you guys heroines in positions you've always wanted to see them in, but the big companies wouldn't have the stones to do it. The feedback on which girls you like really helps to dictate the course of things to come.

I have to say I think that when it came to TFing female characters that Marvel never really gave them the full attention that they deserved. Which is hardly surprising considering the fact that to fully sate our desires it would have had to be a lot more sexual than they could have gotten away with but still...

I have to agree that Rogue is a character with a lot of potential... The well-known (in the She Hulk community) artist Manic did a similar type of character http://groups.yahoo.com/group/manicsangels/ in the "bank" series - if only Rogue had done that more...

Tigra could be done with a combo texture/paint effect pretty easily. She could be areal good kitty...

Sometimes the big companies go to great lengths to cover up the females and not be gratuitous, which I suppose creates a market for those who want to see these girls get a little wilder. How many males watched Linda Carter's Wonder Woman and wished those bad boys could have spilled out at least once...

The realm of mainstream comics can be quite legally and morally entangling (as I'm sure you can attest to, Jeff). The Comics Code Authority was created quite some time ago to protect kids and young adolescents (the the primary buyer of comics) from more adult-related themes. But we all know that isn't the case anymore, as the average age has risen quite a bit, so it's no wonder the interest and "craving" to see more adult-related imagery and stories has likewise risen. This really does put DC, Marvel, Image, and others in a tight spot, and they have chosen to remain more or less true to their roots and keep that kind of thing out of their books, with exceptions like MAX, Vertigo, Chaos!, Dark Horse, and others.

But really it's the 'Net, being a place of trade on virtually any kind of idea, that has started to satisfy (and further expand upon) this desire. I, myself, enjoy seeing two or more sides to characters I'm familiar with: one, the mainstream version that I can read about in my favorite funnybooks; and the other that I can find out more about in a website such as Justice Babes, or create my own interpritation. To be honest, I really don't WANT to see how Marvel or DC or any other big company would do more adult themes in the same vein as you and Ronald are doing here! I don't think it'd match up well, and for all of us fans, the only real limitation is our imagination, not what might sell or what won't. So as far as I'm concerned they can keep their heroines the way they are; we'll just come here and see what they do when they really want to relax and let it all hang out!

It has to be said that it's best to leave adult comics to the proffesionals (Jeff and co ) because it's best to keep Marvel as a source of ideas to "borrowed" and then pornified

Good to hear that a Tigra type girl or any other catgirl wouldn't be too hard to render.

If we're on the subject of heroine types that we'd like to see - I'd be interested to see a buxom girl/ milkmaid type heroine with the obligatory outsized bosom that puts even She-Bulk to shame

Oh and today's She Bulk page - great! It really managed to get over a sort of passive aggressive complex on She Bulk's part.
