I think today marks the end of the site's second week, right? Hope to see some neat stuff next week. No doubt you're working your butts off...

The site's a bit sparse; a member can go through all the content in a day. After that, we're just racking up casino balances... but that'll change as the content slowly grows.

Speaking of which, I was wondering how long Jeff takes to do, say, a pinup-size piece. Is 3D-modeling making it faster or slower than conventional digital art? I think I recognize some of the doodads from other merchants, and of course some sets are reused. Still a lotta stuff, though.

I'd comment on the comic, but there's only three pages so far. Smile It wasn't the intro I was expecting, but then that's most of the fun in reading comics...

The changes to poker make it quite a bit easier for me to make money.

Nifty feature to add to the jigsaw puzzles: allow pieces to be rotated using the arrow keys. (90 degrees at a time, of course; no need to get super-weird.) Also, use pictures that aren't in the pinup section, and reward solvers with a link to a high-res version. And use a lot more pieces. Smile That'll keep us busy.

Silly character name suggestion of the moment: Fanny May. Yes, she's a ripoff, and you can probably guess who. Har har.

Anyway, that's all for now. I've got no real preference as to what to put the most effort into, other than simply everything. Smile Keep at it, and let's hope Poser fixes those danged leg and elbow creases...

The poker has been tweaked now so the payout on a pair (2 of a kind) pays out only 50% rounding up. So the high betting folks- you'll lose more... The lower betting folks lose less. Which is fair....

Those betting low has a better chance of making money progressively over time...
Those betting high have a good chance of making a lot of money faster but also risk losing a lot of money....
It's pretty balanced out now...

For the Jigsaw Puzzles- We'll look into making it more challenging and fun. Smile

Thanks for the comments, Hollow.
While it's possible to go through all the galleries and comics in a day, the hope is that people will want to spend some time looking at the art more. I think there are over 250 gallery pics in the Main and Bonus content areas, and a lot of them make nice desktop images, which will hopefully give pieces more eyeball time. If you've got a fast connection, you can go through all of the content very quickly, but I'd like there to be at least a few that pique someone's interest enough to want to look at for a while.

Sometimes the 3D art can be churned out quickly, if it's just a simple character portrait, with a basic background. Some of the more complex images in the gallery, like the one I'm adding today (Girl with a bad axe standing on the bow of an old sailing ship) take several days. I'm attempting to keep a good mix of quantity and quality, getting some bio pics and comics up quickly, and an occasional fine art piece that some real effort went into. Feedback on what people appreciate will dictate what I work on next, and what types of images I do.

The comic was started to add some background details to the characters in the casino and card game, and will grow over time. I'm working on more casino dealers right now, and will add more pages to the comic soon. Rotating types of artwork I do keeps things fresh for me, so sometimes I work on comics, then fine art pinups, some hand drawings with computer coloring, fractals, etc. Positive feedback on specific pieces or areas always inspires, though, so I invite everyone to speak up on favorites that you'd like to see expanded. Getting back to the comic, it will feature short stories, or small bursts of different characters to get to know them, and if some become favorites, they could easily be expanded into thier own "book", Just let us know what you like!

Thanks again for the support and the comments!

-Jeff

- Thanks for the support and the comments!

You bet, Jeff! I saw the latest thumbnail on BHD, and I like it!

You make a good point that I forgot about - a lot of the pinup work is worth studying for a while. Like the cathedral set with the stained glass, or Faith's motorcycle. Heck, even the wall graffiti is nifty. I like a couple of tropical sets where it looks like your fractal work factored into the leaves.

There's a couple of backgrounds that look TOO good. Smile I have to ask - were the plants and sunlight on 000127074.jpg done digitally, or were they from an existing photo? (Yeah, I know, why am I looking at the sunlight when there's a - ahurm - girl there, but whatever.)

So yeah, the extra detail is appreciated. In fact, I probably wouldn't have bothered joining were it not for the detail. (I'll bet the little 230x360 numbers in the casino are a relief compared to the 1024x768 stuff. Smile )

The gallery additions today are good examples of the two types of digital art styles. The Pollentrix character shots were assebled very quickly, and the backgrounds are photo-manipulations. Not my best work for certain, but it gets the character out there in a bigger image than in the casino, and serves as her introduction to the site. The other images of the bad-axe chick on the ship were done in a totally different way, and took a lot more time and effort, hence, it makes a nice desktop image. That one took a few days to set-up and render at full size, and then several hours of post-work "painting".

The casino images are smaller than most, but everything is rendered bigger and reduced to tighten up the details. Most of the original gallery images are about 2500 to 4000 pixels wide, and the comics are all at 300 dpi full comic book size (which is printable resolution, just incase somewhere down the line we ever want to entertain the idea of a physical book).

A lot of the casino dealers right now are pretty straight 3D models, and they're going to fill out all the spots in the casino. After we've got a good core-group, I'm going to go back and tackle some more artsy stuff, doing more painted costumes and a little bit more adventurous artwork. Probably my favorite thing to work on is the comic pages, and I love the prospect of not having to fit everything into a set number of pages, and I can experiment with lots of things that print won't allow. I'd also like to try some Flash-toons in the future, but that's after we really get things rolling here.

Lots of new things to come!

-Jeff

Thanks for the info, Jeff. The pinups look great. I love that ship in the background. You might wanna tell the swabbie to use less wax on the deck, though, especially with those high heels. Smile

I think the same magic that allows a girl in heels to run over expanded metal deckplates on a spaceship allows her to stand on wet wooden boards. That's why it's called *Fantasy* art.
